Pickering, Ona (Marriage - 31 Dec 1902)

The event of the season, and not only of this but of many seasons, took place at the home of Byron Pickering on New Year's eve, when Ona Pickering became the wife of Mr. Ernest Watts.

Mr. Marcus Wilson and family of Minneapolis, Rev. R.D. Sparks and wife of Plainfield, Mr. Hugh Watts, a brother of the groom, and Miss Bertha Winn of Granton were here for the wedding. Our reporter was the only other person present, except the near relatives of the bride.

The bride was attended by Miss Winn as bridesmaid, Mr. Hugh Watts acting as best man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R.D. Sparks, who is a great uncle of the bride. Following the ceremony a bountiful supper was served and a very pleasant evening was passed.

The bride has spent her life in this community (Nevins, Clark County), where she is greatly beloved by a host of friends. The groom is a prosperous young farmer who came to this country from England some seven years ago, and invested in property at Nevins two years ago. The young people, however, expect to make their home in North Dakota, but will not leave here until next spring.

Gab joins with the entire community in wishing them the very best gifts which May fall to the lot of mortals (Nevins Gab)
