Brooks, Minnie E. (7 Jul 1859 - 3 Mar 1907)

Mrs. E.F. Brooks died Sunday evening, March 3, 1907, at 7:40, of apoplexy. She was suddenly taken sick nearly three weeks before, Dr. C.L. Schultz had been in close attendance from the first. Dr. Wallie of Marshfield was also called, and he gave but little hopes of her recovery at first. During the last week she grew better, and strong hopes were entertained that she would recover, when Saturday night, prior to her death, she had a second attack from which she never rallied, remaining in an unconscious condition to the last, when the Death Angel came and guided her into that blessed land to which we all journey. At her death she was surrounded by her beloved family and other relatives.

Her death creates a void in the family circle that cannot be filled. Se had a noble generous disposition and to know here was to love her. She was ever ready to help in time of need. A kind loving neighbor, honored by all. Her death not only affects the home she left, but the entire community.

The funeral services were held from the family residence Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Postlethwaite of Marshfield, officiated. The remains were laid to rest in the Lynn Cemetery, Clark County. A large number of beautiful floral tributes adorned the casket, sent by distant relatives and friends of the family. Also others of this place tendering them. The classmates of Marshfield High School, Class ?07, of which her son Raymond is a member, sent sympathy in the shape of a magnificent offering of carnations.

Mrs. Brooks was born Minnie Ernestine Zipfel, July 7, 1859, in Altenberg, Germany. At her death she was forty-seven years, seven months and twenty-four days old.

She came to this country with her parents at the age of 8 years, settling in Milwaukee. Later going to Farmington, Washington Co., living there several years, then moving to Clark Co. in 1868, and was married to Erwin F. Brooks, Dec. 25, 1882. She leaves to mourn her departure a devoted husband, two daughters, Elsie and Mabel, and two sons, Raymond and Clark, an aged father, Fredrich Zipfel, a brother, Louis Zipfel; and two sisters, Mrs. Schaeffner of Loyal and Mrs. Bertha Frechette of Nevins, and other relatives. The bereaved family has the deep sympathy of the entire community.
