LARGE BEAR IS SEEN ON FARM NEAR GREENWOOD (1930)
A large black bear, wandering away from its woodland haunts, strayed onto a farm five and one-half miles south of Greenwood, where it was seen last Friday morning by Lloyd Herbert while he was in the barn milking cows. The bear crossed the hay field about 40 rods from the barn. Hebert notified neighbors of the animals invasion and a party composed of George and Henry Gemmeke, Mike Podobnik and Hebert himself, tracked the animal as far as a thick wooded growth where the trail was lost. –Marshfield News-Herald.
