Ward, Catharine (6 Jul 1829 - 14 Jul 1908)

Mrs. Catharine Ward, wife of Thomas Ward, died at their home in the town of Grant Tuesday morning Jul 14, 1908. Death came to her very suddenly. She went to bed as well as usual; in the morning she did not get up for breakfast and on investigation it was discovered that she had been stricken with paralysis. A physician was telephoned for, but she lived only a short time.

Mrs. Ward was born in the town of Beckwith, Ontario, Canada, Jul 6, 1829. In 1853 she was married to Thomas Ward and in 1882 they came to Wisconsin, living about a year in Neillsville and then moving to their farm in the town of Grant, Clark County, where they have resided ever since. Besides her husband she leaves three sons and three daughters. Two sons, James and Duncan, and one daughter, Mrs. Susan E. Wynne, live in Canada. One son, William, and one daughter, Miss Minnie Ward, live and home, and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Austin, resides in Neillsville.

Deceased was a member of the Methodist Church and a consistent Christian. She bore the weight of age with great cheerfulness. Hers was a life of the highest usefulness, and like a sheaf full ripe for the harvest, she was ready to be gathered in and garnered.

At present writing the time has not been set for the funeral, which May await the arrival of some of the relatives from Canada.
