Severs, John J. (22 Nov 1878 - 8 Feb 1909)

John J. Severs died at his home at Westboro, Wis., Feb. 8, 1909, aged thirty years, two months and sixteen days. He was born in the town of York, Clark County, being the son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Severs. His father died about twenty-two years ago; the mother went to California and died there in 1897.

Deceased worked in the Wisconsin lumber camps and saw mills for a number of years past. About seven years ago he was married to Miss Lois Smith who, with their four children, three girls and a boy, survive him. He was working in the woods this winter as a top loader and got a fall which broke his leg about Jan. 8. He was apparently gaining and expected soon to be up and around, when heart trouble set in and he died very suddenly. He was a popular member of the Modern Woodmen Camp in Westboro, and the members took turns at assisting in nursing him. Two members, Al Kurtznick and Arthur Fessenden arrived her with the remains on Friday and the funeral was held at the M.E. Church on Saturday afternoon, Rev. W.P. Burrows officiating. The members of the M.W.A. of the Neillsville Camp attended in a body.

Charles Severs, a brother, of Centralia, Wash., arrived Friday to attend the funeral. A sister, Mrs. Eunice Dunnigan of Denver, Colo., could not come. Mrs. (The rest of my copy was cut off)
