Youmans, Beth (Marriage - 29 Dec 1909)

Lieut. Clarence Sturdevant and Miss Beth Youmans were married Wednesday night, Dec. 29, 1909, at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Nettie Youmans, Rev. W.T. Hendren of Greenwood officiating. Bernard Ferguson of Minneapolis acted as best man and Miss Viola Youmans, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid. The wedding was a quiet one, only relatives and near friends of the parties being in attendance.

The bride and groom were born and brought up in Neillsville, Clark County and attended school together here. Just at the close of his high school course, Lieut. Sturdevant won an appointment at West Point, U.S. Military Academy, from which he graduated with honor about three years ago, since which time he has been in the service. His record is such that the people of this city are proud of him. The bride graduated from the city high school, took a course in Milwaukee Normal and has taught for some time in the home schools with marked success. She is a young lady of high intelligence, sweet disposition, yet positive character.

They left on the midnight train going directly to Washington D.C., where the groom is stationed. The future of this young couple, seems fair indeed. For life’s work they have prepared with youthful energy and enthusiasm. With their successes have come the good will of all who know them, without even the slightest cloud of envy for all know that these were won on their own merits. We join with many others in the sincere hope that the years May bring to them all the happiness and usefulness that the present protends.
