Carlson, Hans Sr. (1845? - 9 Jul 1911)

Has Carlson, an old North Side (Neillsville, Clark Co.) resident, died suddenly in Chicago Sunday, being overcome by the intense heat. Mr. Carlson left here early this spring to work at La Porte, Ind. The factory where he was employed was closed for a short time and he went to Chicago to spend a week, and died there. Deceased was born in Norway and was 65 years of age. He was a seaman for twenty years of his early life and afterwards followed the carpenter trade. Thirty years ago he came to Neillsville, Clark County and followed his trade for a long time, the working in the furniture factory where he was employed whenever it was running. He was a very competent and industrious workman.

He leaves his wife and three sons, Carl of Chicago, Hans at La Porte, Ind., and Thomas at Elgin, Ill., three daughters, Mrs. Irving Ayers and Mrs. Thornton Gates of Neillsville, and Mrs. Guy Jones of Omaha, Neb., also a granddaughter, Josepha Johnson, who has made her home with him since she was four years of age. The remains are expected to arrive from Chicago today (Thursday), but no definite time is set at this writing for the funeral. The family have the sympathy of all their friends and neighbors.
