Wright, John (? - 19 Sep 1912)

John Wright, rural mail carrier on Route 2, afflicted with heart trouble, through this affliction answered the final summons with little warning at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19th. He had gone to the post office and was at work when he felt too faint to continue and going outside sat down upon the steps.

Miss Krause and Victor Cole, noticing his weakness, and upon his agreeing to have a physician called, Dr. Ross was summoned. A.J. Knorr coming upon the scene at this time helped to support Mr. Wright in his sitting posture. The doctor was son at hand, but too late to save him, he only survived a few minutes more.

Mr. Wright was on of Granton, Clark County’s best known citizens and was a resident here since coming from New York State 40 years ago, being a rural mail carrier ever since the routes were established 9 years ago. He is survived by his wife, and 4 children, namely, Blanche, Mrs. Wm. Huff of Swift Current, Can.; Roy in Minnesota; Bessie, Mrs. Rella Osgood, of this place; and Vernon at Laona.

The funeral was held at the home Sunday, Rev. Witson Mallory officiating. (Granton News)
