York, Viola (Marriage - 2 Jun 1912)

Attorney Chas. Gilman and Miss Viola York were married Jun 2, 1912 at the home of the bride’s parents near Janesville, Rev. Chas. Butters, uncle of the bride officiating. Judge O.W. Schoengarth was best man and Miss Bessie York, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gilman of this city (Neillsville, Clark County) He was brought up here, graduated from our high school, became a successful teacher, graduated from the Wisconsin University Law School and began practicing at Thorp. Later he went to Friendship, the county seat of Adams County, was appointed and again elected district attorney and has taken a prominent part in that rapidly developing community. He is a man of sterling worth and high character. His bride is a stranger to most people here but is looked upon as a most charming young lady by those who have met her. The writer feels more than a passing interest in Mr. Gilman and his wife; first because of a long and pleasant acquaintance with him and second because of the fact that he and his wife have cast their lot in our native county and among many of our former friends. With his old friends here and his newer ones in Adams Co. we join in offering our best wishes. Mr. and Mrs. Gilman arrived her Tuesday via Madison and expect to visit for a few days.
