Shanks, Dave (31 Mar 1856 - 9 Feb 1931)

Dave Shanks passed away at his home at Eau Claire, Feb. 9, 1931, at 3:00 a.m. of Bright’s Disease. Mr. Shanks was born in Ontario, Canada, March 31, 1856, and came to Greenwood, Clark County when 17 years old. He was one of the pioneers of this city. Mr. Shanks was married to Isadora Babb March 18, 1879. To this union three children were born, Leonard H., Forest E. and Lilah F.

No doubt Mr. Shanks will be remembered best by those with whom he worked and by his many friends in Greenwood.

He was the youngest of a family of ten children, of which Robert Shanks of Watertown, S.D., a brother, is the only member of the family surviving him.

He leaves his widow, and three children, Leonard of Mellen, Forest of Stevens Point and Mrs. R.M. Ruth of Eau Claire, also ten grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the local M.E. Church Wednesday, Feb. 11. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.
