Williams, Lilian (3 Apr 1944)

Williams - Martin

Sgt Lyle S. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. S. Martin and Miss Lilian Williams, were quietly married on Monday, April 3, in the parish church in Shotton, Durhamshire, England. The bride, who is a most attractive appearing young lady, was prettily attired in a gown of pink satin for the evening ceremony, and the groom wore his army dress uniform. The attendants, were the bride's sister, Miss Mary Williams, and brother, William. Present were the sister and brother of the bride and their families.

The groom is a well known young man of this vicinity, a graduate of our high school class of 1932. He has been to England for some time, stationed near London. His bride is a native of the city where the nuptials were celebrated. She has been in the Auxiliary Territorial Service and is employed as a telephone operator. She is planning on coming here if transportation arrangements can be made, probably before the close of the war.
