Chase, JoAnn (16 July 1946 – 1 March 2022)

JoAnn Chase 75 passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center Marshfield.

JoAnn was born on July 16, 1946, in South Milwaukee Wisconsin to the late Eloy and Jean [Hale] Hachmeister.

JoAnn's father died when JoAnn was just a teenager and her mother later remarried Joseph Vieau. Joseph then adopted JoAnn and her brothers and sisters, and they moved to Hatfield. JoAnn graduated from Neillsville High School in 1964.

JoAnn married Kenneth Chase and they had two children Terry Martini of Wausau and Michael Chase of Stevens Point. JoAnn and Kenneth divorced. JoAnn later married Richard Hoffmann, the love of her life.

JoAnn went on to earn a degree in business education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She taught Business Education in high school, junior high and technical school in Stevens Point. After her retirement she went on to earn a master's degree in Servant Leadership at Viterbo University, Lacrosse. She became a certified hospice chaplain and later served as a hospital chaplain until the time of her death.

JoAnn had a love for life. She especially enjoyed travelling with friends and then with her husband Richard. She travelled to the Holy Land, Greece, Turkey and Egypt. In addition, they visited family in Ireland. Richard and JoAnn made frequent visits to Jamaica, they also had an adventure on a river boat and an ocean cruise in Europe, and a Disney family vacation. JoAnn also loved scrap booking, making cards, crocheting, and many other crafts.

She was instrumental is starting Stephen Ministry at Holy Spirit Parish. She was also on the Parish Council and various parish committees. She was devoted to her family, faith and church.

She is survived by her husband Richard Hoffmann and his family Theresa and Brandon Krohn, and their children Hailey and Logan. She is also survived by her children Terry Martini and Michael Chase and granddaughter Crystal. She has two sisters that survive her, Sandra Vieau, Plymouth, MN and Mary Suits [Jack] of Marshfield. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her father Eloy Hachmeister, her mother Jean Hachmeister [Vieau] and stepfather Joseph Vieau, plus her brothers Thomas and John Vieau. In addition, she was preceded in death by her grandparents Raleigh and Katherine Hale and Charles and Elisabeth Hachmeister.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Boston Funeral Home of Stevens Point. There will be a visitation at Boston Funeral Home [1649 Briggs Street, Stevens Point WI] from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. March 4, 2022. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Spirit Parish [2151 Stanley Street Stevens Point, on March 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Father Steven Brice will officiate. There will also be visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
