Obituary - The Spencer Record - 2 - 21 - 1952 - pg - 1 - Carl Petersen Passes Away - Funeral services were held at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at the Veefkind community Church for Carl Petersen, 59, Town of Sherman who died Friday morning in St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. The Rev. Lee Holmes, Loval, officiated at the service & burial was made in the Veefkind Cemetery. The body reposed at the Swarthout Funeral Home until 12:30 p.m. Sunday when it was taken to church to repose until the time of services. Pallbearers were William Dankemever, Dale Tyler, Geo. Collinson, Lowell Schultz, Manford Cain & Albert Lindow.

In charge of the floral offerings were members of the Freemont Grange, Mrs. Albert Lindow, Mrs. Dale Tyler, Mrs. Henry Mueller, Mrs. Glen Gower & Mrs. Arnold Eppers.

Mr. Petersen was born May 11, 1892 in Denmark where he received his education. He came to the United States at the age of 21, settling in New York. His marriage to the former Esther Horn took place March 3, 1925 in Mt. Vernon, S. D. They farmed in South Dakota for a few years before moving to Wisconsin 15 years ago. Since that time they resided on their farm near here. He was a member of the American Legion & the Freemont Grange.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Donald, Stillwater, Minn., & Norman at home; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Giles of Eau Claire, 1 grandchild & three sisters & two brothers in Denmark. Attending the funeral from away were Donald Petersen, Stillwater, Minn.; Mr. & Mrs. Paul Giles & baby of Eau Claire; & relatives from Janesville.
