Anason, Cheryl J. (1 August 1981)

On the afternoon of Saturday, August 1, with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating, Cheryl J. Anason and Ivan W. Alf were wed in Neillsville’s St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Lamoine Anason, Rt. 1 Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin Alf, Eleva.

Serving as maid of honor was Charlene Anason, a sister of the bride from Neillsville. Joining her in the party were Nan Rosman, a friend from Eau Claire; Carolyn Anason, the bride’s sister of Eau Claire; Diane Alf, the groom’s sister of Eleva; and Kathy Anason, another sister of the bride from Neillsville.

Jon Walde, a friend of the groom from Menomonie, was bestman. He was joined by Andy Klevgard, a friend from Eleva; Larry Anason, the bride’s brother of Eau Claire; Steve Alf, the groom’s cousin of Mondovi; and Kevin Anason, another brother of the bride from Neillsville. Ushering were Gary Anason, the bride’s cousin of Chippewa Falls.

Music at the wedding included “The Wedding Prayer,” “The Lord’s Prayer” and “The Wedding Benediction,” offered by Paul and Beth Tess, vocalists, accompanied by Sharon Nemitz.

The bride chose a nylon organza gown with high Victorian neckline, Chantilly-lace bishop sleeves and empire bodice trimmed with Chantilly lace and seed pearls. The A-line skirt was accented by a lace-trimmed ruffled hemline which swept into a bustle-back chapel train. Her fingertip-length veil featured a modified Juliet cap trimmed with lace and pearls. She carried a bouquet of white roses, yellow rosebuds, white carnations, yellow gypsies decorated with baby’s breath and white ribbon.

The bride’s attendants wore gowns of mint-colored, luster-glo knit featuring high sheer lace necklines, butterfly sleeves and A-line skirt. They carried bouquets similar to the bride’s.

The groom was attired in a white striped tuxedo while his attendants were in black and white tuxedos.

Following the nuptials, a reception and dance was held at the Neillsville American Legion Hall. The couple left on a western wedding trip.

Prenuptial events included a Neillsville shower hosted by Carolyn, Charlene and Kathy Anason and an Eleva shower hosted by Ida Mae and Diane Alf and Kathy Steffens.

The couple will make their home in Eleva. The new Mrs. Alf is a 1977 graduate of Neillsville High School and in 1979 from District I Tech, Eau Claire, in computer programming. She is employed by Mondovi’s Buffalo Memorial Hospital and Manor. Her husband is a 1977 graduate of Eleva-Strum Central High School and is a saw operator for the Independence Cabinet Company.
