McKenzie, James B. (7 Dec. 1847 -17 Feb. 1923)

On Saturday last occurred the death of Mr. J. B. McKenzie, an old and well respected citizen of this community. Mr. McKenzie, together with his wife and son made his home in this city since 1915. His principal occupations were farming and carpenter work.

He was of Presbyterian faith as his parents were before him, but coming to Wibaux has made the Methodist his church home. Mr. McKenzie was of very quiet and reserved personage and made friends with those with whom he came in contact.

The funeral was held on Monday afternoon at the Methodist church Rev. W. H. Calvert officiating and the remains laid to rest in the Wibaux cemetery.

James R. McKenzie was born in Waitsfield, Vermont, Dec. 7, 1847, of Scotch-Irish parents. His people moved to Canada where he lived several years. He belonged to the Canadian Militia eleven years. He came to Seymour, Wis., in 1872. From there he moved to Clark County, Wis. He was married on October 5, 1886, to Mrs. Belle Bradley, who survives him.

He made several trips to Montana and finally settled on a claim in 1910. He moved to Wilbaux in 1915 where he has since resided.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, his son, David Harvey McKenzie, five sisters, Mrs. W. Sherman of Seymour, Wis., Mrs. Anna Garvin and Mrs. James Flynn of Owen and Mrs. Nancy Dunn, who has been with him for some time, besides a host of nephews and nieces among who is Mrs. Norman Rogers of Beach, N. D., who with her family made him many a visit during the summer and fall.

His death was due to creeping paralysis. He had suffered a couple of strokes the 6th and 8th of July but was able to around in wheel chair until recently when he had several light strokes. The last two weeks he was unable to speak but seemed to suffer. He passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 1923. Wilbaux, Mont., Exchange.
