York, Wisconsin August 15, 1893

Maude Humiston commenced her school near the mound last Monday. A large number of people from this place attended the funeral of Mrs. Palmer, formerly of this place, now of Neillsville, last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Waterman of Chester, are the guests of A. Benedict and wife. Arthur Gardner made a business trip to Chili the first part of the week. The Wilcox threshing machine started up the first of the week with Al Garvin as manager. J.F. Carle, district lecturer for the I.O.G.T. in the 9th District, delivered a fine temperance lecture at this place last Saturday evening. M.W. Lawrence, who has been at work in Chili, is again at this place. John Garvin of Marshfield, is again at this place and is employed on the Wilcox threshing machine. About fifty from this place drove down to the Redmond Church yesterday to listen to Rev. John Spears of Marshfield, who gave them a fine discourse. Fred Benedict spent Sunday with his parents. Sam Gibson comtemplates moving away this fall.
