Lezotte, William (27 Mar 1873 - 19 Dec 1923)

William Lezotte, a resident all his life of the town of Grant, Clark County, Wis., was instantly killed Dec. 19, 1923 while felling timber on the farm of the late Fred Reidel in Grant. A young man named Lautenbach was working with Mr. Lezotte at the time of the accident, but was not injured.

Mr. Lezotte was an old and experienced woodman. He had taken a contract for cutting timber for the Blum Bros. Box Co. of Marshfield and was at work on the contract. The tree that he and his companion were felling started to crack and then split upward and shot back from the stump, striking Mr. Lezotte on the head, killing him instantly. Deceased was born in the town of Grant March 27, 1873. He grew to manhood there and was married in 1897 to Clara Noel, who died about a year later, leaving an infant daughter, now Mrs. Harold Irish, of Alma Center. Mr. Lezotte continued to make his home in Grant, but was a way at times while at work for others. He was an honest upright man and well liked by all who knew him. Besides his daughter, he leaves three brothers, Joseph of the town of Grant; Patrick of Ft. Atkinson, and John of Mercer, Wis.; also one sister, Mrs. J. Yankee of Tony, Wis.

The funeral was held Friday at the Congregational Church, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.
