Montgomery, Mr/Mrs Ed. (50th - 25 May 1923)

On Friday, May 25, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Montgomery of this city completed half a century of married life. They had expected to have no special celebration of the occasion, but on Friday afternoon they were pleasantly surprised by the arrival of a number of friends and neighbors in the city who came to rejoice with them in the completion of their fifty years of happy married life. In the evening a second group arrived, some from the city and others the old neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery from across the river in Pine Valley, where they formerly lived. They too had a most enjoyable time. The two gatherings presented Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery with a gold piece and a casserole.

Mr. Ed. Montgomery and Miss Emma Reynolds were married at Ft. Atkinson, Wis., and lived in Jefferson county for a time, but have spent the greater part of their married life. They have living two sons, Ralph Montgomery of this city and Paul Montgomery of Milwaukee, and two daughters, Nelly, Mrs. O. L. Hickcox of Hudson, Wis., and Nettie, Mrs. Richard Dickinson of Shawnee, Oklahoma. They still enjoy a fair measure of comfort and happiness, and their many friends in and about Neillsville hope that they May still have before them many years of joyful life.
