Fred Lavine, as his friends have usually called him, died in Weston, Clark County, on July 1, 1923. The funeral, which was largely attended, was held from his home on July 3, Rev. George W. Longenecker, Congregational minister officiating.

He leaves surviving his wife, a son, Gordon Lavine of York, Wis., a brother, Frank Lavine of Hewett, in this county, and a sister, Mrs. Matilda Lapp of Spirit Lake, Idaho. All were present at the funeral.

The deceased has lived nearly all his life on his farm in the won of Weston. He worked in his younger days in the lumber woods. He sold his farm a few years ago. He has been in failing health for some time. Mr. Lavine was a man highly respected for honesty and integrity of character.
