Conrad, Frederika (1 Dec 1884 - 1955?)

Mrs. William (Frederika) Conrad, 71, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Friday at Victory Hospital in Stanley, Wis. Death was due to leukemia, from which she suffered the past year.

Frederika Josephine Johnson was born Dec. 1, 1884 near Westby, Wis. She spent most of her early life on a farm near Curtiss, Clark County, Wis., until her marriage to William Conrad on July 11, 1903. The family resided for a period of time at Colby, Withee and Abbotsford. After the death of her husband and two younger children she became employed at Eau Claire and later came to Thorp, Clark County, where she pent most of the past twenty-five years.

She is Survived by two children, Mrs. Wm. (Florence) Wagner of Thorp and Mrs. Frank (Edna) Bogumill of Hannibal; two brothers, Roy and Melvin Ostenson of Curtiss; four sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Carla) Lien and Edith and Christine Ostenson of Curtiss and Mrs. Ole (Ella) Moen of Cottage Grove, Oregon; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The body lay in state at the Thorp Funeral Home until the time of the funeral, which was conducted by the Rev. Cecil Ward at the Thorp Methodist Church at (2:45 o'clock Monday afternoon. During the service Miss Nancy Lindquist sang "My God and I" and "You'll Never Walk Alone," accompanied by Mrs. A. M. Wil....(the rest of the copy was cut off)

I never remembered meeting her but heard what a great lady she was from my dad, Roy H. Ostenson of Bloomer, WI (her nephew).
