Koerner, Yvonne A. (11 May 1935 – 24 April 2022)

Yvonne A. Koerner, age 86, of Curtiss, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.

Yvonne was born on May 11, 1935, at home in the Township of Green Valley, Marathon County, to Clarence and Florence (Wyman) Viegut. She was the 3rd oldest of 13 children. Her family moved east of Dorchester when she was two years old. Yvonne attended Draper Grade School and Dorchester High School.

After school she started working at the Ben Franklin Variety Store in Abbotsford, where her and her sister, Charmaine rented an apartment.

On the second Saturday night in June of 1952, Yvonne met her husband, Donald O. Koerner, at a dance in Dorchester. Two years later they were married, September 18, 1954, at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church. Yvonne worked side by side with her husband on their dairy farm on Center Rd in Dorchester from 1954-1996. After retiring from the farm, she worked at Hedlers and County Market, where she loved her coworkers and visiting with customers until she was 80 years young.

She enjoyed her country home. Her home and yard were always kept immaculate; she loved to tend to her flower beds and garden. Yvonne loved to read, go for walks, embroider items for gifts, bake her family’s favorite treats (she always had baked goods in the freezer), and bowling. Most, importantly, she loved her family and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s events.

Yvonne is survived by her husband: Donald; two sons: Dan (Jill) Koerner of Colby and Don (Marie) Koerner of Medford and two daughters: Vicky (Mark) Fischer of Colby, and Shelley (Steve) Shaker of La Crosse; ten grandchildren: Kelly Weiler, Kara Jeske, Kory Koerner, Mitch Shaker, Tyler Shaker, Amanda Spindler, Austin Koerner, Aaron Koerner, Jesse Koerner, and Kendra Robida; and 16 great-grandchildren: Brianna Weiler, Blake Weiler, Connor Jeske, Andrew Jeske, Brent Jeske, Derek Jeske, Jayden Koerner, Peyton Koerner, Jackson Spindler, Jevin Spindler, Jordy Spindler, Hux Koerner, Bowen Koerner, Kollyns Koerner, Coleson Koerner, and Ella Koerner. She is further survived by nine siblings: Charmaine (Harold) Amacher, Jelaine (Jerrell) Cartensen, Judy (Verlyn) Wittlinger, Gail (Duane) Underwood, Debra (Greg) Stoiber, Jeff (Susan) Viegut, Cindy (Jeff) Sebold, Carla (Duane) Wepfer, Mark (Darla) Viegut; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Carol (Dennis) Feind; sisters-in-law: Elaine Viegut, Sherry Viegut, and Joyce Lucas; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: LaVern, Clarence Jr. and Jim; sister and brother-in-law: Carl and Betty Bloom; Grandson: Sam Shaker; and father and mother-in-law: Oscar and Dorothy Koerner.
