Lafayette Bartell  (21 Mar 1855, WI - 4 Dec 1932, Tacoma, WA) March 21, 1855, he married Ellen "Ella" Shepard (28 Nov 1858, Monroe, WI–19 Nov 1914).  They were the parents of five children:  Ernest L Bortle (7 Jun 1882, WI - 23 Jan, 1939, Tacoma, WA); Charles Adelbert Bortle, (Oct 1884, WI - 11 Sep 1909, Tacoma, WA), Irvin Guy Bortle (4 Dec1886 - 15 Augl 1887), Victor E. Bortle (Apr 1890, Tacoma, WA - 28 Augl 1909), and Flores Florence Hanley (Adopted-21 Nov 1894 - 8 Oct 1965).

 

Lafayette was the son of Philip James Bortle (25 Feb 1827, NT-28 Mar 1899, Eau Claire, WI) and Mary Jane Clark (4 Jun 1830-11 Nov 1893, buried in Evergreen Cem., Centerville, WI) who married 7 Augl 1824, in Columbia, NY

After her mother died in 1902, Flores was adopted by Layette & Ellen Bortle.  In 1912, she married Guy Novell Fraidenburg (9 Jun 1890 - 14 Sep 1979, aged 89).  They have been laid to rest in the Willwood Burial Park, Rockford, IL.
