Kanter, MaryAnn M. ( 1939? - 16 August 2019)

Our Savior and Saints gently embraced Mary Ann and took her home on August 16, 2019, after battle with cancer at the age of 80 years old.

She is survived by her beloved husband Don Kanter of 57 years of marriage. A loving and compassionate mother to 4 children: Phil (Anne) Kanter, Annette (Robert) Schultz, Michael (Cathy) Kanter, and Bridget (Brian) Pluemer. Proud Grandmother to 22 grandchildren: Hannah (Dan) Deminsky, Joseph, David, Timothy (Molly), Grace, and Seth Kanter. Alexandra (Michael) Bostone, Samual, Alannah, Kathryn, Christine, James, Maria, and John Schultz. Lea and Jameson Kanter. Nicholas, Luke, Annika, Thomas, Michael and Maria Pluemer. Lovely great-grandma to 5 great-grandchildren: Landon, Roland, and Lydia Deminsky and Charles and Calvin Bostone.

She is also survived by 8 brothers and sisters: Elaine Neville, Glen Mack, Terry Mack, Shirley Burg, Betsy Gutenberger, Thomas Mack, Beverly Kruger and Karen Finch.

MaryAnn proudly and lovingly was a homemaker raising her children and keeping a meticulous house. She volunteered as a teacher’s aide at St John the Evangelist school, secretary on the Athletic board, and assisted at the parish festival. Later in life, MaryAnn worked at Forest Ridge Senior Community at the Front Desk. She was a member of the Christian Women Society at St John the Evangelist. She is a self-taught seamstress. Through the years she hemmed pants, altered clothes, and made valances to save her friends and family money. She has been affectionately referred to as a “laundry chemist” for conquering difficult clothing stains. Maryann was always ready to make a meal or dessert for any family function or to simply provide a meal to those who could use the help. Her chocolate chip cookies will be greatly missed. She was a compassionate counselor to many without judgement.

MaryAnn worked at creating fond memories for her family. The annual family camping trip to Hatfield, WI is a family tradition for the last 35 years. Most of her grandchildren grew up from infancy attending and relishing this annual summer event and still participate in their adulthood!

Her Catholic faith was strong and dear to her heart and her home strongly reflected this. Mary Ann has gently guided many to the love and mercy of our Lord by spreading Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

Visitation, Saturday, August 24, 2019, at St John the Evangelist Church (8500 W Coldspring Rd, Greenfield, WI 53228) 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. Luncheon to follow at Clifford’s Supper Club. The family would like to thank all their family and friends for their support, cards, flowers and meals. Prohealth Care and Dr Raza for their steadfast care and Vitas Ruth Hospice for their compassion and care.

Memorials in Mary Ann’s memory are appreciated to St John the Evangelist School.

Added Note: I being in her Neillsville High School Class of 1957, know her maiden name was Mack. One of her sisters not mentioned here (now deceased) was Mrs. Ted [Dorothy] Janicki of Neillsville. Dolores
