Warner, John M. (2 DEC 1870 - 30 Jan 1930)

John Marvin Warner died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph L. Decker, on Jan. 30, 1930. He was born in Juneau Co., Wis., and had reached the age of 59 years, 1 month and 28 days. Several months ago he fell and broke his leg, and was taken to the hospital at Chippewa Falls, where he spent nine weeks, and three weeks ago was brought here (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) to the home of this daughter where death resulted from the effects of the fractured leg. Deceased was united in marriage to Lena Nelson in 1894. To this union five children were born, John Western, Melcher and Kathryn, all deceased, and Rachael (Mrs. Decker) and Ruby (Mrs. A. Huls), of Thorp; he also leaves to mourn one sister, Mrs. M. Story of Eidsvold, and one stepson, E. S. Nelson, of Jump River. The funeral took place on Saturday last from the M. E. Church, Rev. James Irish officiating, interment following in the cemetery at Eidsvold.

Mr. and Mrs. John Warner met with a serious accident while returning from Thorpe last Saturday. The lines gave out and Mr. Warner stepped out upon the wagon pole to repair them, when one of the horses became frightened and kicked, breaking Mr. Warner’s arm. The horses then started to run away and and Mrs. Warner leaped from the wagon in so doing broke her ankle and her limb above the ankle.

Lena Nelson was born 17 September 1865 in Ringsaker, Hedmark, Norway and the following month, she was Christened there.  Her father, Ole Nilson / Nelson, was born 6 Mar 1827, Puttenberg sondre, Brottum, Hedmark, Norway and he died :9 June 1898 in Northfield, Jackson, Wisconsin.  Her mother, Helene Larson Solberg, was born 17 Sep 1828 in Solberg nordre, Brottum, Hedmark, Norway.  She was the daughter of Lars Halvorsen Solberg (1791–1872) and Gurie Pedersdatter (1796–1864).  Helen Solberg Nelson passed away a less than a year before her husband Ole, 17 June 1897.  Both Ole and Helen are at rest and awaiting the resurrection in the Upper Pigeon Creek Northfield Cemetery, Jackson County, Wisconsin.
