Haas, Evelyn (12 DEC 1921 - 23 JAN 2001)

Evelyn Haas, 79, 100 N. Wilson, Thorp, Clark County, WI., died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, 1:00 a.m. at Oakbrook Health and Rehab Center, Thorp.

Evelyn was born Dec. 12, 1921 at Stanley, WI to Peter and Cora (Vanderloop) Henke. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1940. Evelyn married Melvin Haas June 12, 1946 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Stanley. She had worked at Blue Moon Cheese in Thorp for about 6 years, also was employed at Dr. Connolly's office for 6 years. She lived and farmed in the Town of Worden for 30 years and in 1977 they became residents of Thorp. She was a member of St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp.

Surviving are her husband Melvin Haas of Thorp; three sons: Ronald (Janis), Larry (Bonnie), Marvin (Ann); two daughters: Arlene (Dale) Paul, Joan (Norm) Maier, all the children are of Thorp, 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lucy (Bernard) Haas of Cadott and Phyllis (Gene) Johnson of Stanley. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 great-grandson, 1 brother Don Henke and 1 sister Geraldine Henke.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp, with Rev. John Puerner officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 25 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Thorp Funeral Home, with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary Service.
