Raymond Fredrick Theiler was born June 7, 1942, to Ruth Prine and Raymond Cyrtmus.

At an early age Ray was adopted into the family of William and Emma (Trachsel) Theiler. Ray lived most of his life in Humbird and the surrounding area. Due to ill health he had been hospitalized before entering hospice care and moving into the home of his daughter Jennifer in rural Taylor. It was here at her home that he passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 16, 2022, having reached the age of 80 years and 9 days.

Ray had attended school in Humbird before entering the U.S. Army, where he served his country in Germany and France. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Humbird and since then had been a member of the Humbird American Legion.

Throughout Ray’s life he had been employed in the Humbird area working as a farm hand, in the iron mine and at the cranberry bogs. He enjoyed taking frequent nature rides and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Ray will be dearly missed by his 3 daughters, Jennifer Amundson of Taylor, Kerry Theiler of Fairchild, and Luci “Roo” Theiler of Augusta; 11 grandchildren, Damon, Samantha, Ryan, Matthew, Courtney and Autumn Amundson, Tyler and Tayah Bedell, Brookelynn, Logan and Aiden Barnett; 7 great grandchildren; brother Kal (Sue) Theiler of Humbird; 2 sisters, Dixie Gansel of Aptos, CA, and Peg Koplitz of Greely, CO; several nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol on Jan. 29, 2013; sister, Raeleen Bartel; brothers, William “Sonny” Theiler Jr., Fredrick Theiler and Roger Cyrtmus.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Mentor Cemetery in Humbird, with military honors conducted by the Humbird American Legion Post. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Mentor Town Hall .
