Pierce, Archie (1895? - 25 Jul 1909)

Archie, the fourteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Pierce, died at their home north of town (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) last Sunday after a short illness. Dr. Murray, the attending physician, pronounced the disease acute tonsillitis. Other children in the family were sick and on account of the apprehension of some that it might be contagious, the board of health secured Drs. Breakey and Putnam to make an examination of the sick ones. Both of these physicians pronounced the disease diphtheria. Some others had been in the house but every precaution has been taken to prevent any spread of the disease. The remains of the deceased were buried Wednesday in the Mentor Cemetery.
