Schilling Family, Ezra

Louis and Bertha Schilling came to Wisconsin and settled in the town of Fremont, Clark County, Wis., in the year 1895. They purchased some timberland and built a log house. With much hard work they cleared the land and built the farm homestead. Seven living children were born to them. Louis Schilling died at the age of 52 in 1915. His widow and children continued to work the farm. Bertha Schilling died at the age of 92 in 1963.

Ezra Schilling and a twin sister Martha were born in the year 1907. Ezra grew up on his mother's farm and received his education at Pine Circle School. He stayed home and helped his mother with the farm work. In 1931 he married Edith Moss. They bought the farm from his mother in 1936. In addition to farming, Ezra worked in sawmills, lumber yards, and various other places of employment. In 1972 they sold the farm, are retired, and live in their new home in Chili. Ezra's and Edith's hobbies are hunting and fishing. They are the parents of four children and have nine grandchildren.

They are members of the United Methodist Church in Chili.
