Mrs. M. Gloden and daughter Celia left Monday night for a visit at Defiance, Ohio. The work of laying the new cement walks around the school house has been let to Henry Stallard. P. E. Peterson, of Greenwood, was in town looking after some fire insurance business Wednesday afternoon. Ben Chenoweth, one of the proprietor’s of the Hixton flour mill was a business caller in town the first of the week. F. Beulow and wife and Chas. Newman and family went to Arpin last Saturday and spent Sunday with relatives there, John Schmid has rented the Walter building and will open a saloon there next week. A new well has been put down this week on the lot. E. M. Monroe, who was here helping take care of his brother John returned Monday to Durand, where he is working for a building mover. John Garber and son Fred left Tuesday for a ten day trip through Montana and North Dakota. They intend to file on some land in the former state if a satisfactory piece is found. Miss Jennie Hart was in Augusta Tuesday afternoon having dental work done. From there she accompanied her brother Chas. On his regular trip to Fall Cree, returning home on the night train.
