Marg, August (25 Aug. 1861 - 25 Feb. 1931)

August Marg, one of the old settlers of Pine Valley, passed away at his home in that town at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, aged 69 years and six months. Over two years ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis and had been an invalid ever since.

August Albert Marg was born in Germany, Aug. 25, 1861, and at the age of 21, came to America with his parents. The family settled in Pine Valley where deceased, has made his home ever since. On Sept. 25, 1891, he was married to Miss Bertha Marth, who survives him. Their union was blessed with 11 children, seven sons and four daughters.... two daughters and one son preceding the father in death. Those surviving besides the mother are Louis of Helenville; William of Watertown; Albert in Neillsville; Fred in Globe; Frank in Pine Valley; Edward on the home farm, Emma, Mrs. Herbert Bardeleben in Pine Valley; Hilda at home. Deceased leaves also two brothers: William in California and Frank in Pine Valley; and two sisters: Mrs. Fred Keifat in North Dakota and Mrs. Carl Poppe of Globe, also 14 grandchildren.

Mr. Marg was a man of sterling honesty, an industrious farmer, a kind husband and father and in every way an ideal citizen.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon 2:30 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran church, Rev. Wm. Baumann, officiating. Burial took place in the Pine Valley cemetery.
