Bennett, Evelyn Doretta (30 May 1899 - 13 April 1931)

Mrs. Evelyn Doretta Bennett died April 13 at the home of her mother, Mrs. Minnie Markham on West Tenth Street, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Bennett was born at London, Wis., May 30, 1899 and was brought to Clark County in 1900, by her parents who settled on the Ferdinand Wage farm south of town where she attended the rural school in that district. Later she attended high school in Neillsville.

On July 3, 1917, Miss Markham was married to Vaughn Bennett who was employed as night agent at the depot. For some years they have lived in Milwaukee where Mr. Bennett is a member of the Milwaukee police force.

Early last fall Mrs. Bennett suffered an attack of influenza and pneumonia which resulted in a breakdown of her health and last October she was brought to the home of her mother who has been caring for her since. Mrs. Bennett made a host of friends during her brief residence in Neillsville, being possessed of a keen wit and friendly, winsome spirit.

She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Markham, three brothers, Lee of Sandwich, Ill., Wesley and Theodore of Los Angeles, and a sisters, Mrs. O. A. Thompson of Detroit, Mich.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Lowe Funeral home with Rev. Edwin H. Vornholt in charge of the rites.
