Matter, Lorena (Marriage - 18 June 1931)

A very pretty wedding took place at Trinity Lutheran Church at Spencer on Thursday, June 18, at 2:30 o’clock by Rev. A. C. Stapel when Miss Lorena Matter, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Matter was united in marriage to Mr. Erwin H. Greeler, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Greeler of the town of York.

The wedding march, Bridal Chorus, from Lohengrin, was played by Mr. George Moll. The Choir rendered a beautiful anthem. Miss Antia Bruss, cousin of the groom, also sang "Jesus Lead On." The bridal pair were attended by Miss Frances Matter, sister of the bride, as maid of honor and Miss Dorothy Pockat, cousin of the groom as bridesmaid. The groom’s attendants were Mr. Herbert Schwocho and Mr. Reuben Pockat.

Berdine Luther, cousin of the bride, acted as flower girl. Mr. Oville Matter and Mr. Gerhardt Pockat served as ushers.

The bride was beautifully gowned in an ankle length white satin and lace and wore a train veil arranged in cap effect, adorned with pearls and rhinestones. The bride carried a shower bouquet of white roses and swan Sonia. The maid of honor was attired in orchid embroidered net and the bridesmaid in pink chiffon and both wore head bands of brilliants. The carried bouquets of pink and white carnations and sweet peas. They flower girl was dressed in white crepe de chien and carried a basket of mixed flowers. The groom and his attendants wore dark blue suits.

Following the ceremony, a reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents to about one hundred fifty guests. The rooms were beautifully decorated in white, pink and orchid. The waitresses were Misses Edna Mellenthine, Olga Schwantes, Esther Schultze, Dorraine Schwantes, Ada and Ella Huber.

The bride has been employed in Spencer for the past five years. She is well known in the vicinity of Spencer and is like and respected by all who know her.
