-Northup, Ruth M. (Marriage - 25 June 1931)

A pretty June wedding was solemnized at St. Mary’s church in this city at 9 a.m., June 25, when Miss Ruth M. Northup, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Northup of the town of York became the bride of Charles Hovanec of Chicago. Father Peter Weber officiated.

The bride wore a gown of white satin faced crepe ankle length and carried a shower bouquet of pink, and white roses. The bridesmaids wore pink georgette and nile green taffeta and carried pink carnations and white snapdragons. The maid of honor was Miss Vera Hurlburt cousin of the bride. She was also attended by Mrs. Grace Northup, sister-in-law of the bride.

The groom was attended by Leland Northup and Kurt Schnerr. They wore dark blue suits.

The rooms at the home were prettily decorated in pink and white crepe paper and the porches in green and white. A wedding dinner given by the bride’s parents, was served to 95 guests. A beautiful wedding cake decorated the table.

A wedding dance was held at Riverside pavilion at which a crowd of several hundred was present to celebrate the event.

Mr. Hovanec is employed as a checker by the Wilson & Co., of Chicago. The couple will be at home in that city at 4552 Gross Ave., after June 30.
