Gordon A. Randt, age 80, of 1001 West 17th St., died at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at the Marshfield Center, where he had been residing since April. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark A. Krueger will officiate and Mary Castner will be the organist for congregational singing.

Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews, Myron Leffel, Dale Leffel, Darrel Leffel, Bruce Tremelling, Warren Werner, Duane Werner, Jeff Werner and Everett Beckius. The visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Gordon was born on Oct. 25, 1923, in the town of Rib Falls, the son of Henry and Alma (Bornowski) Randt. He attended Fairchild School in the town of Frankfort, Marathon County. From February 1941 to 1945, he was employed at the Frankfort Cheese Factory. Gordon was then drafted into the U.S. Navy at Great Lakes, Ill., and he later went overseas for ten months of duty in the Philippine Islands. He received an honorable discharge on July 16, 1946, and returned to work at Frankfort Cheese.

On June 14, 1947, Gordon married Aurella L. Hoernke of Edgar. He and his wife moved to Willard in 1948, and managed the North Hendren Co-Op. In 1950, they purchased a cheese factory in the town of Sherman, near Loyal, which was later named Randt's Dairy Inc. He and Aurella operated this factory for 31 years. In March of 1981, Gordon retired from cheese making and moved to Marshfield. He was employed at Johnson Garment for eight years. Gordon also volunteered at the Marshfield Area Respite Care Center from 1997 to 2003. Survivors include three children, Geraldine (Michael) Jambretz of Buffalo, Wyo., Verlyn (Sharon) Randt of Marshfield and Kathleen (Jesse) Arneson of Bloomington, Minn.; three grandchildren, Heather Randt of Madison, Kimberly Randt of Marshfield and Stacy Randt of Marshfield; three sisters, Eunice Werner of Edgar, Janet (Paul) Fassbender of Poynette and Karen (Richard) Loch of Hayward; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Mae Hoernke.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother, Ray, and his sister, Doris Leffel. His favorite hobby was old time music at the concertina.
