Dorothy Loraine Long was born May 20, 1928, in rural Curtiss, to Sherman Sr. and Anna (Newman) Long. Dorothy and Edmond Rohland were united in marriage on Aug. 2, 1947, and farmed their entire life north of Withee. She was a wonderful mother to their seven children. Dorothy was an excellent cook and made bread and pastries the entire neighborhood enjoyed. She made hundreds of quilts and pillows for her family and gifts for neighbors and friends. She enjoyed working with the Happy Workers 4-H group and sharing her talents. When the 1983 Farm Progress Days in Clark County were held, Dorothy was interviewed for all three state farm papers. She was named Quilt Queen of Clark County. She was known throughout the state of Wisconsin for her quilts and won many awards. Edmond built an addition to their home, which was used specifically for her sewing and quilt making, as well as the entire upstairs as the children left home. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her husband of 57 years, Edmond Rohland of Withee; her children, Terry (Marge) Rohland of Withee, Christine (Dennis) Nelson of Loyal, Teresa (Jerold) Rakovec of Withee, Elaine (Steve) McLeod of Abbotsford, Patricia Martin of Marshfield, Lisa (Thomas) Hamm of Owen and Richard (Nancy) Rohland of Medford; 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Malm of Marshfield and Marion Ridpath of Owen; and one sister-in-law, Koko Long of Manitowoc.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sherman Long Jr.; and one sister, Betty Meyer.
