Hayden, Anna (September 3, 1867-November 7, 1941)
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Augusta Hayden, 74, were held Monday afternoon with the Rev. Philip Koenecke of the Immanuel Evangelical Church in charge. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hayden, a resident of Clark county for the last five and one-half years, died November 7 in Chili after an illness of two days. She was a victim of a paralytic stroke.
Born in Clarna, Green County, Wisconsin, on September 3, 1867, she was the daughter of William and Louisa Smith. She was married to James A. Hayden on March 3, 1885, in Green County.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Keith (Byrdie) Curtiss of Bay City, Tex.; Harry Hayden of Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Lee (Katie) Neuenswander of Marion, IA., and Wesley Hayden of Chili. There are 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers: Henry Smith, who lives in South Dakota; Ed and Robert Smith, who live in Iowa, and Charles Smith, who lives in Juda, Wis.
Pallbearers for the funeral Monday were: Herbert Pusheck, Phelps Spry, Otto Rusch, Ezra Schilling, Arthur Lindow and Albert Lindow.
The flower girls were: Ruby Nelson, Mary Jennings, Geneva Lindow and Lola Schmidtke.
Relatives from away who attended the services were: Robert Smith of Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith of Juda, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith of Iowa, Mrs. Keith Curtiss and son, Hayden, and daughter, Vivian, of Bay City, Tex., and Mrs. Lee Neuenswander and sons, Eugene and Noel, of Marion, IA.
