Darton, Ernest M (16 Apr 1853 - 8 Feb 1928)

Ernest M. Darton was born in the town of Hartford, Washington County, Wis. April 16, 1853, where he spent his boyhood days up to the age of 15 years. In the spring of 1870 he came to Clark County with his mother and step-father, whereby they settled on a tract of wild land in the town of Beaver; and with their unified efforts developed into a fine farm. He resided there until the time of his death which occurred on Feb. 8, 1928. He was a just and upright man in all his dealings with mankind.

He will be greatly missed in the community where he resided so long. Besides leaving a host of friends, he leaves to mourn his loss a sister, Mrs. Carrie Peterson of Seattle, Wash., one nephew of California and four nieces all of the state of Washington and numerous other relatives, most of them living in Wisconsin.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in Loyal, Feb. 14, the Rev. G. C. Wadding officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Loyal Cemetery beside his mother who passed away about twelve years ago.
