Henchen, Irene Marion (15 March 1927 - 4 Nov. 2004)

NEILLSVILLE - Irene Henchen, 77, of Neillsville died Nov. 4, 2004, at the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services for Irene will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. An American Legion Ladies Auxiliary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Irene Marion Henchen was born March 15, 1927, in the town of Weston in Clark County, the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Meihack) Thoma. She married Herbert C. Henchen on Sept. 30, 1950, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe. They recently celebrated their 54th anniversary.

After her children were in school, Irene began working at Neillsville Bakery. She worked there for a few years, and then she went to work as a cook in the food service program at Neillsville High School. She worked there for 19 years, retiring in 1988.

She is survived by her husband Herbert, and three children, Jim (Nina) Henchen of Neillsville, Randy (Lee Ann) Henchen of Neillsville and Linda (Dennis) Schutte of Marshfield. She is further survived by six grandchildren and one brother, Gordon (Gladys) Thoma of Neillsville.

Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Irene's family with the arrangements.
