Mrs. Tykac was born Sept. 17, 1906, in Granton, a daughter of the late Robert and Amelia (Gluck) Garbisch. She attended Granton Schools.

The former Erna Garbisch was united in marriage to Frank Tykac on Dec. 12, 1926, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton. He preceded Erna in death on Feb. 16, 1988. The couple farmed in Granton until 1942, when they came to Marshfield. In addition to being a farm wife and mother, Mrs. Tykac worked at Roddis and Weyerhaeuser companies prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the Pricilla Circle and the church's quilting group, the "Piece Corp." One of Erna's hobbies was flower gardening.

Mrs. Tykac is lovingly survived by one son, Donald (Donna Rae) Tykac, of Plymouth, 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
