McGonigal, William (1853 - 19 Mar 1928)

William McGonigal was born at Newboro, Ontario, Canada, in 1853. The father, Chas. McGonigal, was born in Ireland and the mother [nee Moran] of Irish parentage, was born in Canada.

He was one of a large family the members of which have lived and served under the flags of the United States and Canada. One brother, a sister and the parents are buried in Canada. One brother was killed in the service of the U. S. at the U. S. Naval Yards at New Port News, Virginia. One is buried at Wheeling, West Virginia. One was killed at the electrical power plant near Niagara Falls, N. Y. One died at Ashland, Wis., and another at Saginaw, Mich. Of the surviving members of the family there remain two brothers, James McGonigal, and Dr. M. McGonigal, and two sisters, the Misses Anna and Nellie McGonigal all of Loyal, Wis.

Deceased about a year ago survived a severe attack of pneumonia but never fully recovered from a complicating heart lesion to which he finally succumbed suddenly on March 19th, 1928.

Funeral services were conducted March 22nd, Rev. Father Stenz officiating at a Solemn Requiem Mass. Interment was made at the Catholic cemetery at Loyal.
