Christman, Elsie (29 Dec 1880 - 27 May 1928)

Mrs. John Christman [nee Elsie Emerson] died Sunday May 27th. She had been in ill health for about two years but death came suddenly from heart failure.

Elsie Emerson was born Dec. 29, 1880, on a farm 2 1-2 miles north of Loyal, [known as the Swieso farm] and grew to womanhood at that place. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Emerson.

About three years ago she was united in marriage to John Christman and lived here with her husband up to the time of her sudden demise. She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. Julia Shupe of this village, two brothers, Frank Emerson of Butternut and Lawrence Emerson of Wisconsin Rapids, other relatives and a host of friends who mourn her untimely death.

Funeral services were held at St. Balthasar’s Catholic Church on Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock, the Rev. Joseph F. Stenz officiating. Interment took place in the Catholic cemetery.

Those from away who attended the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. L. Emerson of Wis. Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Emerson of Butternut, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bowman of Black River Falls, Mrs., Nettie Wintjen and Sam Amundson of Melrose.
