CPL. LEDGER IS BRIDE OF ARMY MAN IN SOUTH Wedding Performed in Gunter Field Chapel

November 18, 1944

Of interest to friends here is the announcement of the marriage of Cpl. Ruth Marie LEDGER, WAC, Gunter Field, AL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roland W. LEDGER, 912 S. Cedar Street, and Sgt. Patrick Henry DOWD, U.S. Air Forces, also of Gunter Field, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew J. DOWD, Westfield, Mass. The nuptial ceremony took place at the base chapel at Gunter Field, Montgomery, AL, Nov. 18, at 10:30 a.m. with the Catholic chaplain, Capt. Francis A. Mason, reading the vows. Soloist was Pfc. Sarah KENDALL, Gunter Field.

The bride wore a white slipper satin gown and finger-tip veil of illusion edged with lace caught to a pearl and rhinestone tiara. For jewelry she wore pearls, a gift of the groom, and she carried a white pearl rosary and a bouquet of white roses and camellias.

Her sister-attendant, Mrs. Dorothy E. PIETKIEWICZ, of Chicago, was attired in a pink taffeta frock and matching blusher veil and had a corsage of mixed flowers. Sgt. Thomas J. FITZGERALD, Maxwell, AL, a cousin of the groom, served as best man.
