Roehl, Frieda L. (25 Sep 1910 - 20 NOV 1999)

Loyal, Clark County, Wis. - Frieda L. Roehl, 89, Marshfield, formerly of Loyal, passed away Nov. 20, 1999, in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal with the Rev. Daniel E. Zimmerman officiating. Special music will be provided by Frieda's granddaughter-in-law, Julie Roehl.

Burial will follow in the Chili United Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Hammer, Dennis Roehl, Douglas Roehl, Chris Harder, Mark Gardner and Paul Brostowitz.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Frieda Louise Roehl was born on Sept. 25, 1910, in the town of Fremont, Clark County, the daughter of Henry and Ida (nee Lindow) Nebel. She attended Pine Circle School, Purdy Junior High and McKinley Senior High. She also graduated from the Teacher's Training School in Neillsville. After teaching in the Clark County schools for four years, she worked in several restaurants in Milwaukee and Marshfield.

On March 19, 1938, she and Russell Roehl were united in marriage in Chili. They farmed in the Chili and Auburndale area before buying a farm near Loyal in 1942. Russell was killed in a tractor accident in 1963.

Frieda moved to the city of Loyal in 1974 and had resided there until entering the Marshfield Center in 1996. She was a resident there until entering the hospital on Nov. 17, 1999. Frieda was a former member of the Chili United Methodist Church and a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, as well as a past member of the Loyal Senior Citizens Club. She greatly enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble, crossword puzzles, bingo, crocheting and reading.

Frieda will be dearly missed by her daughter, Kathleen (Terry) Hammer of West Allis; two sons, Lowell (Velora) Roehl and Erlin (Bonnie) Roehl, both of Loyal; seven grandchildren, Susan (Paul) Brostowitz of Loyal, Kim Roehl of Marshfield, Dennis (Julie) Roehl and Douglas (Kim) Roehl, all of Loyal, Sandy (Chris) Harder of Eau Claire, Tami (Mark) Gardner of Greenwood and Kristin Roehl of Loyal; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Lee of Chili.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; on son, Elgin, in 1973; a sister in infancy; and three brothers.
