COLE-HAMMER

June 1, 1945

Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. HAMMER, of Appleton, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Astyre, to Ensign Glenn COLE, USNR, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry COLE, Chili. The wedding ceremony took place June 1 in the Little Chapel of Flowers, Berkeley, CA. Organ music preceded the service.

To the strains of Lohengrin’s wedding march the bride walked down the church aisle to the altar accompanied by her uncle, August JOHNSTON, of Oakland, CA, who gave her in marriage. Her gown of heavy white satin was styled with a bouffant organdy skirt which extended into a long train. Organdy ruching outlined the square neckline and her fingertip veil of tulle was caught to a small sweetheart hat. She carried a colonial bouquet of gardenias and stephanotis.

Ensign Virgil IVIE, Alto, GA, and Ensign Henry OWEN, Rocky Mount, NC, attended the groom.

The double ring ceremony was read by Lt. Stephen REYNOLDS, USNR, chaplain on the bridegroom’s ship.

After the service a reception was given at the home of the bride’s cousin, Mrs. Rudolph EHMANN, at Berkeley. The couple is temporarily residing in San Francisco.

Ensign COLE attended River Falls State Teachers College before he was transferred to the V-12 unit training at Lawrence College, Appleton. He has been on duty with the Pacific fleet for the last seven months. Mrs. COLE was graduated from Lawrence College where she was affiliated with Alpha Delta Pi social sorority. She is now employed in the personnel department by the Marathon corp., Menasha.
