Cole, Lester (5 MAR 1842 - 17 Apr 1912)

Lester Cole passed peacefully from earth at 9:15 o'clock Wednesday morning after an illness of some duration with a complication of diseases.

Thus terminated the life span, at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 12 days, of a man who has always borne the reputation of being honest and upright, a good neighbor and faithful friend, as those who knew him best will testify.

Mr. Cole was a native of New York State, born in Madison Co., March 5, 1842. The family moved to Oak Grove, Dodge Co., Wis. in 1856, where he grew to manhood, and on Jan. 1st, 1872, was united in marriage with Miss Ellen Dagen of that place. Three years after his marriage he moved his family to Humbird, Clark County, Wis., built a house and has since resided here. He followed the carpenter trade in his younger years, but failing health and infirmities of age compelled him to retire and he has since devoted his time to bee culture.

To Mr. and Mrs. Cole were born a son, Willard, of Alma Center, and a daughter, Mrs. Alice Andrus of Osseo. Deceased leaves to mourn his death, his wife, son and daughter; two brothers, John of Gillett, and George of Dakota. A brother, William, and a sister, Mrs. Lewis Backus, have passed on before him.

The funeral is to be held at the M.E. Church this (Friday) afternoon, conducted by Revs. Moore of the Merrillan M. E. Church, and the burial will be in the Mentor Cemetery.
