Gronck, William (1888? - 4 Augl 1914)

William Gronck, the 26-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gronck living six miles west of Owen was accidentally killed late last Tuesday afternoon while attempting to throw a belt off a pulley which was in motion on a wood sawing rig.

The crew had just finished a cut and Gronck went to throw the belt off the pulley which was running the saw, and in some manner was thrown under the machine, cutting off one of his arms and breaking the other in three different places. Several ribs were broken and he was otherwise internally injured.

Medical aid was immediately summoned but the young man died shortly after the arrival of doctors. Several of his fellow workers were with him at the time of the accident, but no one seemed to see just how the accident happened.
