Davis, Bessie (10 May 1874 - 3 June 1932)

Mrs. John Davis of the town of Fremont passed away Friday evening, June 3, aged 58years. Her maiden name was Bessie Oatman; she was born at Freeport, Ill, May 10, 1874. When she was quite young she came with her parents to Cedarhurst, where they purchased a farm, which has since been the family home.

She was married in 1891 to John Davis who survives her. Three children: Gerald of Willard; Irving and Mrs. Esther Wilcox both of Chili. She leaves also nine grandchildren, her aged mother, Mrs. Emma Oatman, and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Tarbox of Miles City, Montana.

She was a lady of intelligence and refinement, and was greatly loved and respected by a wide circle of friends.

For many years Mrs. Davis has written the news of her locality for the Press, and our office force as well as hundreds of the Press readers deeply mourn her death.

The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church in Nasonville, June 7. She was long a member of this church and was a charter member of the Chili Royal Neighbors. Burial took place in Yoho cemetery.
