Harvey Byron Sinclair

SINCLAIR, Harvey Byron — Age 96, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2004. He was born on May 25, 1908, in Greenwood, Wisconsin, the son of Ernest and Hattie (Fryatt) Sinclair. He was raised and educated in Wisconsin and spent his youth working on a dairy farm. In his twenties and with the depression griping the nation, he headed to Chicago, and later moved west. He worked as a gold miner in Montana before moving to California. Harvey was a wood machinist in Santa Anna, California, for many years, retiring in 1974. He was united in marriage to Dora Mahoney on September 18, 1968, in Santa Anna. They moved to Sacramento, California, and in 1988, made their home in Roseburg. Harvey loved raising birds and had built an aviary at their home. He also enjoyed his garden and growing roses. He liked to bowl, go fishing and loved to dance.

He is survived by a son, Gerald Sinclair and his wife, Donna of Grants Pass, Oregon; two daughters, Carol Reinart of Sparta, Wisconsin and Barbara Sellars of Tula Rosa, New Mexico. He also leaves a brother, Erwin Sinclair and his wife, Bea of Vista, California; as well as five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great great-granddaughter. Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Dora, three sisters and one brother. Private family services will be held with private interment at the Civil Bend Pioneer Cemetery in Winston, Oregon. TAYLOR’S FAMILY CHAPEL assisted the family.

Harvey Sinclair

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Harvey Byron Sinclair, 96, of Roseburg, Ore., died Dec. 5, 2004.

Private family services were held. Interment was in the Civil Bend Pioneer Cemetery in Winston, Ore.

He was born May 25, 1908, in Greenwood to Ernest and Hattie (Fryatt) Sinclair. He married Dora Mahoney on Sept. 18, 1968, in Santa Ana, Calif., and she predeceased him. He was a wood machinist in Santa Ana, retiring in 1974.

He is survived by a son, Gerald (Donna) Sinclair, Grants Pass, Ore.; two daughters, Carla Reinart, Sparta, and Barbara Sellars, Tula Rosa, N.M. and five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. He also is survived by a brother, Erwin (Bea) Sinclair of Vista, Calif.
