Rhode, Eliza (13 JAN 1861 - 4 Mar 1929)

Miss Eliza Rhode, nee Henning was born Jan. 13, 1861 at Mecklenberg, Schwerin, Germany. At the age of 21 she immigrated to the United States locating in Juneau, Dodge County, Wisconsin. In 1881 she united in marriage to Carl Rhode who passed away in 1917, to which union was blessed with five children, namely, Louis, Edward, Anna, Arthur, and Earl, of which one son preceded the parents to eternity. In the fall of 1899, they moved from Dodge County to Clark County. Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her son, Earl, who resides on the farm homesteaded by his parents.

About two years ago the deceased was taken with a stroke of paralysis, from which she recovered and was in fairly good health until Sunday night at 10 o’clock she was taken with a second stroke of paralysis, which caused her death, thus making her age 68 years, 1 month and 30 days.

The deceased has been a member of good standing for many years in the Trinity Congregation.

The deceased leaves to mourn her loss, four children, Edward Rhode, Loyal, Mrs. Anna Meier, Curtis, Arthur and Earl at home, besides seven grandchildren, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at the house and 2:00 at the Trinity Church. Interment took place at Loyal cemetery.

The Tribune extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
