Ammons, Clifford F. (2 June 1934 - 8 Mar 2005)

w/flag Clifford F. Ammons, 70, Marshfield, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Saint Joseph's Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Ammons will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at St John's ELCA Church in North Spencer. The Rev. Rebecca Jorstad will officiate. Marsha Marten will provide music and Karin Hanson will serve as soloist.

Interment will be in North Spencer Church Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 358 of Unity. Serving as pallbearers will be Otto Schmidtke, Pete Mellenthin, Fred Kerkseick, Gene Donnerbauer, Brian Kilty, Larry Marten, Randy Rasmussen and Larry Eckes.

Friends May call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hansen Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Ammons was born June 2, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Clifford F. Sr. and Virginia (Neuberger) Ammons. Clifford graduated from Spencer High School in 1953. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He and the former Janet Widmer were united in marriage on Jan. 16, 1954, in Riplinger.

Mr. Ammons was a heavy equipment operator for Moen Construction and later for Trierweiler Construction until the time of his retirement in 1997.

Cliff and Janet loved to travel, especially on their motorcycle. Clifford also enjoyed hunting and was an avid reader. Mr. Ammons was a member of the Marshfield TNT Riders, American Legion Post No. 358 of Unity and a former member of the Lauby Riders Motorcycle Club. He was also a member of local 139 of the Operator and Engineers Union. In addition, Cliff was also a life member of the AMA, a member of Ducks Unlimited and the NRA.

Mr. Ammons is lovingly survived by his wife ,Janet of Marshfield; four children, Debra (Richard) Roherty, Tucson, Ariz., David (Leslie) Ammons, Tucson, Ariz., Sheryl Eiberg, Petaluma, Calif., and Kevin Ammons, Marshfield; four grandchildren, Aubrey Roherty, Stacy Eiberg, Mary and Daniel Ammons; and his godson, Brian Kilty.

Memorials in Mr. Ammons' name May be designated to St John's ELCA Lutheran Church, The Foundation of St Joseph's Hospital for Cardiology/Heart Services or the Marshfield Area Respite Center.

If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy Of a friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss And yet these things I too will miss.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
